At H.C. Anderson Roofing Company, we recently had the pleasure of collaborating with the Rockford local school district, Rockford School District 205, on a large project for Conklin Elementary. This was a great opportunity to showcase our team’s expertise and make a positive contribution to our community.
When the public bid for this project opened, we were thrilled to be chosen as the reliable and most affordable option. Our task was clear: remove 50,000 square feet of old ballasted roofing and replace it with a new, energy-efficient TPO roof. It was crucial to finish this project over the summer break in order to prevent our team and equipment from interfering with students’ learning.
For this project, we utilized a 60-mil TPO membrane from a leading roofing membrane manufacturer. Additionally, we replaced a large amount of wet insulation, which improved the building’s insulative value and energy efficiency. The upgrade will provide long-term benefits by helping the school district save on energy bills for the next 20 to 30 years—a critical consideration for any public institution.
Working closely with the project manager, Anita Schauer, was a highlight of this endeavor. Anita’s dedication to energy efficiency and fiscal responsibility matched our own, ensuring that the project ran smoothly and efficiently. Her commitment to saving taxpayer money was evident throughout the process, and it was a pleasure to collaborate with someone who shared our values.
In the end, we are incredibly proud of the work we accomplished at Conklin Elementary. Not only did we provide a durable and energy-efficient roofing solution, but we also helped bring significant savings to the taxpayers of Winnebago County and everyone involved with RPS205.
