A New Duro-Last Roof System for Chili’s Restaurant in Dekalb, Illinois

Duro-Last roof replacement for Chili's in Dekalb, IL

Keeping customers safe and dry is essential for any business, and when a local Chili’s restaurant needed to replace their roof, they called H.C. Anderson to deliver a professionally installed Duro-Last roof system. The building, located at 2370 Sycamore Road in Dekalb, has a footprint of about 5,000 square feet and serves hundreds of customers each day.

Project Overview

This project required the removal of the existing Duro-Last membrane and the installation of a new 50-mil Duro-Last Rhino-Bonded system. The building was formerly the home of Ruby Tuesday’s before Chili’s opened in 2017.

  • Removal of Existing Roof Materials: The project began with the removal and recycling of 1 existing Duro-Last membrane.
  • Insulation Repair: Our team inspected the existing insulation and replaced any wet areas with new material.
  • Cover Board: We installed a 1/2″ HD Polyiso cover board on top of the insulation layer.
  • Membrane Roof Installation: Next we installed the 50-mil Duro-Last PVC membrane using the RhinoBond mechanical attachment system.
  • Parapets Coverage: All parapets were also covered with a 50-mil Duro-Last PVC membrane.
  • Flashing: To maintain a watertight seal around penetrations and edges, we installed custom-fabricated flashings to manufacturer requirements.
  • Inspection: As with all of our roof replacements, a Duro-Last quality assurance team member inspected the new sintallation to make sure it was certified for warranty coverage. In this case, our client received a 20-year NDL warranty from the manufacturer as well as a 5-year warranty on labor and materials.

Open for Business!

Thanks to the hard work of our union roofers, this Chili’s was able to remain open during the project and now has a durable and leak-free roof that will last them for many years. The reflective surface of the Duro-Last roof system will help control energy costs during the summer, and with fewer field seams and custom-fabricated components, the new roof will require minimal maitenance over time.
