H.C. Anderson Roofing is proud to announce our recently completed roof replacement project at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rock Valley (UUCRV) located at 329 School Street, Rockton, IL.
Just before the church’s holiday sale last year, they called us for an emergency roof repair to stop a leak in the flat roof that covers their school wing. Upon inspection, we found that the majority of the EPDM materials were breaking down due to age and exposure to the elements, requiring a complete replacement.
Project Overview
This project required the removal of the existing membrane and the installation of a new one while preserving access to and use of the building for the congregation.
- Removal of the Existing EPDM Roof: The first step in this project was to remove the existing EPDM roof down to the insulation. We removed the old roofing material to create a strong and reliable foundation for the new roofing system.
- Inspection and Replacement of Damaged Insulation: Once the old roof was removed, our team inspected the insulation beneath for any signs of damage. In cases where insulation was damaged, we replaced it at a per square foot rate to minimize costs and maintain the roof’s energy efficiency and integrity.
- Installation of Rigid Insulation: After addressing any damaged areas, we installed 0.5-inch rigid insulation across the entire roof surface. This was essential for promoting proper adhesion and performance substrate for the new roofing materials.
- Installation of 50 mil Duro-Tuff PVC Roofing System: For this project, we chose the Duro-Tuff PVC RhinoBond attached roofing system. Known for its durability and energy efficiency, Duro-Tuff is designed to withstand the elements and provide long-term protection. The 50mil membrane was installed using the RhinoBond method, which mechanically attaches the membrane without penetrating it, ensuring a secure and watertight roof.
- Final Inspection and Warranty: A key part of our commitment to quality is the final inspection process. A Duro-Last Quality Assurance Technical Representative conducted a thorough audit of the installation. Upon approval, UUCRV received a 15-year No Dollar Limit (NDL) warranty, covering both materials and labor. Additionally, H.C. Anderson Roofing will provide two years of coverage for any necessary repairs.
