A New Roof for Lathrop Elementary School

HC Anderson completes new roof for Lathrop Elementary School at 2603 Clover Ave, Rockford, IL 61102

During the same stretch, we were replacing the roof at Conklin Elementary, we were also installing a new roof at Lathrop Elementary. What is most interesting about these concurrent projects is the fact that the layout of both schools was very similar. This fact, combined with the proximity of the schools to our headquarters, allowed us to pool resources and deliver two quality roof replacements while offering substantial savings to the Rockford community.

Project Overview

This project required an extraordinary amount of membrane material to cover the vast square footage of the roof.

  • Removal of Existing Roof Materials: The project began with the removal of the old roofing materials down to the deck layer.
  • Repair Deck and Insulation: Our team replaced areas where the plywood roof sheeting, Polyiso and EPS insulation were beyond repair.
  • Membrane Roof Installation: We installed an TPO Roofing System with an upgraded 80-mil membrane.
  • Finishing Touches: Finally, we installed new drip edges and flashing to keep the roof watertight.

Conclusion

This project was a great opportunity for us to make a positive impact on one of Rockford’s most important buildings. The new roof not only enhances the building’s appearance, but it also protects the students within it during school days.
