H.C. Anderson Roofing Company works with all types of franchise owners to repair, replace, and maintain their roofs. This project at the Taco Bell located at 3002 East Washington Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin, is a great example of the quality work we offer to commercial property owners. Here is an overview of process and materials we used for this commercial roof replacement.
Project Overview
The Taco Bell in Madison, WI, needed a new roof membrane since the existing one had broken down beyond repair. The Wisconsin climate experiences all four seasons, so the roof is exposed to extremes of heat, cold, sun, and wind. This takes a toll on the roof over time, so it was important to use quality materials to maximize the durability and lifespan of our work.
Roof Replacement Process
- Remove Existing Roof Membrane: We began by tearing off the existing roofing materials, which included one layer of membrane and a layer of ½” insulation. This initial step requires a focused effort by our crew since it lays a clean foundation for the new installation. Because this location remained open during the project, we needed to handle the removal with care and make sure to remove all of the debris each day to maintain a clean worksite and reduce disruptions.
- Deck Inspection and Repair: After the roof and insulation was removed, we inspected the deck for any signs of damage. While the deck was generally in good condition, we replaced some spots of deteriorated plywood with new ½” sheets.
- Installing the Cover Board: Once the deck was prepared, we installed a ½” cover board across the surface. The cover board provides a smooth and even base for the roofing membrane, helping to improve the overall performance and durability of the roofing system.
- Duro-Last Membrane Installation: We then installed a 50 mil Duro-Last Duro-Bond Roofing System. Our team of certified Duro-Last roofing contractors has extensive experience with this system, and we are confident in endorsing it for its strength and resistance to punctures.
- Flashing and Detailing: All roof penetrations, such as vents and HVAC units, were carefully flashed in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications. Proper installation of the flashing is crucial for preventing water intrusion and reinforcing the most vulnerable areas of the roof.
- Final Inspection: Throughout the project, we maintained a strict cleanup routine to keep the worksite safe and minimize any impact on the business’s operations. Once the installation was complete, a Duro-Last representative conducted an inspection as part of Duro-Last’s quality assurance and warranty coverage programs.
Once the paperwork for the inspection is complete, the owner will get a 15-year No Dollar Limit warranty that covers both labor and materials. This warranty provides the business owner with peace of mind, knowing that their new roof is protected against defects and leaks for years to come.
We chose Duro-Last for this project because of its outstanding performance in commercial settings. The membrane’s durability, combined with its energy-efficient reflective surface, made it the perfect choice for a restaurant in this climate region.
The Taco Bell roof replacement in Madison was completed on time and within budget, thanks to our experienced team and the predictable installation of the Duro-Last roofing system. We hope to work with this client on additional locations in the future.
